MEMBERS APPRECIATION DAY SUNDAY JUNE 15, 2008
Join us for this annual event for Foundation Members only. It's a delightful afternoon event filled with food, drink, an opportunity to meet other Eames fans, some rounds of musical chairs with Eames chairs that allows the winner a chance to win an Eames chair, and the highlight of the afternoon, an opportunity to visit the interior of the Eames House and Studio with the Eames family as your host and guide. It is a Members Only event and you do need to sign up before midnight Saturday, June 7 2008 to ensure your place on the guest list. For Membership information, please visit http://www.eamesfoundation.org/amember/membership_info.html If you need to renew your membership, it's easy to do so at the same site. If you are a regular visitor to this website, or have visited the Eames House for exterior visits, you may be wondering why we are celebrating on the 15th, and not on or near the 20th, Charles and Ray's anniversary. Here's why.
Tuesday, June 17th, is the First Date of Issue of a new pane of stamps by the United States Postal Service celebrating Eames designs. You can be there for the event which is slated to occur between 11-1 p.m. This event will be held at the Eames Office at 850 Pico Blvd. in Santa Monica. This event is open to the public. You do not need to be a Member of the Eames Foundation. If you are in a design frame of mind, think about celebrating the beginning of Summer by spending a long weekend in Los Angeles re-discovering the world of Eames design. There's two ways to celebrate. If you are, or become an Eames Foundation Member, you can meet the Eames family, enjoy a picnic lunch at the Eames House complete with an interior House tour on Sunday, June 15th. Monday would be open to touring other LA architecural jewels and/or taking in a few museums, or relax and enjoy a beach day. Then on Tuesday, the 17th , celebrate the First Date of Issue Eames stamps at 850 Pico Blvd. in Santa Monica.
Hope to see you in June at either or both of the events.
